Gail is an English/Communications Skills lecturer and lives in Hout Bay, a suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rhodes University and a Post-Grad teaching Diploma from UCT.
Her interests include keeping up to date with South African politics, mentoring teenagers, attending Cape Town City Ballet concerts, enjoying music evenings at the Barleycorn club, as well as the Kirstenbosch summer concerts and swimming in the sea no matter what the temperature. Needless to say, she is also a book worm. She has completed a number of creative writing courses with allaboutwriting and is mentored by Dr Jo-Anne Richards and Mr Richard Beynon. She is married to Hanns and they have a daughter, Kirsten. Until recently, three elderly dogs and a huge old ginger tomcat shared the family home.
Her first novella, The Web of Silence, was self-published for family and friends, in 2009.
In 1976, Gail was completing her Politics Major at Rhodes University. Soweto – June 1976, was one of the many traumatic events which inspired her to write Under the African Sun.
