Archie is sitting on my elephant. No really, he is. Remember the one I had a bush connection with some years ago? Those of you who rushed back into the bungalow should!
There I was, in the middle of a starry night lit by a roaring camp fire, staring into the eyes of an elephant. I can even tell you how many eyelashes he had. And in that second between life and death, this gentle giant had a message for me: “I’m not going to hurt you.” You can splutter into your cappuccino all you like. He really did. So what’s that got to do with a journey board and why would my silent hunter be covering him up, deliberately I might add?
Well, this particular therapy was another amazing gift from Corrie of Bluedoor_ct (instagram). I think you need to experience one yourself to really get what I’m about to say, but I’ll give it my best shot. Corrie (an earth angel) prepares your board a few nights before your appointment. She tunes into your energy and sets out specific pictures and words which relate to your life. A gentle meditation with her, opens up the session and together you explore what’s come up. Some of the pictures ring an instant bell. Others need a little more probing. Mine clearly paint a picture of music, dance, gardens and forests. And the sea. Of course the sea. A beautiful old house brings up memories of our Edwardian family home. Art and painting are there too. There are artists in our lineage, but I’m definitely not one of them.
And then, in the right hand corner, which represents my future, is a picture of a huge elephant. It pans in on one gentle eye, complete with eyelashes. It’s him! The friend I met at Ingwelala. Clearly he is to be a part of my healing… Tears well up in my eyes and Corrie hands me a tissue. Now I know what you’re thinking. The chemo has brought on even more ditzy-ness. She’s really lost the plot now. But Archie believes me. So much so, that he’s showing distinct signs of jealousy. Only a little treat of cat biltong will lure him away.
So what am I saying? Do yourself a favour and experience an extraordinary journey in the company of the kindest woman you’ll ever meet. Go on 🙂
